Get Involved on Democracy Day
John Bercow, Speaker of the House of Commons, will visit the city on Thursday 23 September as part of Democracy Day. Hear what life is really like in Parliament, what goes on behind the scenes and the best way to influence decision-making. As part of the day, funded by Take Part and organised in partnership by the council and local voluntary organisations, Mr Bercow will visit Coledan library while members of his team will visit Hangleton library.
At midday he will kick off an afternoon of activities in Jubilee Square. These will include opportunities for people to take part in debates, learn the best way to get your views on local issues heard, and start a petition. There will be information on volunteering and adult learning, entertainment from local groups and lots more. Click here for more information
